We are hiring for the Indigo Girls Group Board of Directors! Are you a young self-identifying woman passionate about empowerment, equity, education and have an interest in leading a non-profit organization? If yes, we have the position for you!
Our Board of Directors is actively hiring for the following roles:

What is the Indigo Girls Group?
Indigo Girls is an organization run by young women for young women. We are a registered non-profit that is built for cis and trans women and non-binary folx who are comfortable in a space that centres around the experiences of women. Through diverse mediums, we aim to educate and create discussion surrounding current societal themes for self-identifying girls. We aim to foster a safe, non-judgmental, and supportive space to learn and engage together. Our focuses are on youth engagement, discussion-based learning, independent growth and development, self-esteem, mental and physical wellness, and equipping girls with tools to become change-makers in life. We focus on many topics, some include; gender barriers, self-care, the role of women globally, media and advertising, environment, mental well-being, women in STEM, power and pride, and much more. We operate in 5 Ontario cities, Halifax, and Winnipeg, running free programming for self-identifying adolescent girls. Our programming consists of weekly clubs, workshops, and speaking events.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR:
What does the Executive Director do?
Board Governance: Works with the board in order to fulfill the organization mission.

Responsible for leading Indigo Girls Group in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors
-
Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support Indigo Girls Group’s mission

Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Indigo Girls Group, to include review of submissions to the Board of all proposed annual budgets and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.

Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintenance of the organization in a positive financial position.
Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with board and staff to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning and community outreach.

Responsible for implementation of Indigo Girls Group’s programs that carry out the organization’s mission.

Responsible for strategic planning to ensure that Indigo Girls Group can successfully fulfill its Mission into the future.

Responsible for the enhancement of Indigo Girls Group’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
Organization Operations: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate.

Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.

Responsible effective administration of Indigo Girls Group operations.

Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of the organization.
Actual Job Responsibilities

Report to and work closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.

Supervise, collaborate with organization staff.

Strategic planning and implementation.
-
Planning and operation of annual budget, led also by the Director of Finance.

Serve as Indigo Girls Group’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public.

Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Indigo Girls Group’s Mission.
-
Engage in fundraising and developing other revenues.
-
Oversee marketing and other communications efforts.
-
Oversee organization Board and committee meetings.
-
Establishing employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and for the day-to-day operation of the nonprofit.

Review and approve contracts for services.
-
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE
What does the Director of Finance do?

Assist with the development of policies and procedures to assist branches in budget planning and fundraising strategies

Work closely with the Director of Operations to manage the yearly budget and record all transactions made

Find grant applications applicable to IGG and/or the branches and lead grant writing process
-
Sit on BOD and contribute to policy and bylaw amendments
-
Create and maintain a template for Grant Writing with general information related to IGG
-
Lead a fundraising team consisting of members of IGG across the organization to organize and promote fundraising initiatives
-
Lead projects for organization-wide funding
-
Maintain the IGG sponsorship package and update periodically
-
Connect and collaborate with organizations and funders for sponsorship opportunities
What are the requirements?

DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH
What does the Director of Outreach do?

Act as the direct liaison and touchpoint between branches Canada-wide and the BOD (e.g. attending branch meetings, keep open lines of communication with them)

Support planning of branch-specific social events (e.g. conferences, speaker events, etc.)

Plan IGG-wide social affairs
-
Sit on BOD and contribute to policy and bylaw amendments
-
Lead a Community Outreach team by organizing and chairing meetings, and bringing forth new projects for inclusion within the organization

Actively seek out opportunities for partnership within cities of branch locations
-
Work with the Director of HR and Director of EDI to help create new training opportunities for IGG members
-
Collaborate with the Director of Programming to find partner organizations and guest speakers to create or attend girls club programming across the organization

What does the Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion do?

Assist with the collaborative development of policies, institutional practices, and programs to promote diversity within IGG and for program participants; including consultations with members of the Black and Indigenous community, creating scholarship and mentorship opportunities, using diverse mediums for hiring and communication

What does the Director of Human Resources do?

Recruitment and hiring of new leadership and assisting with individual branch hiring

Writing and updating hiring policies for all IGG branches

Manage volunteer interpersonal relationships through conflict resolution, providing feedback and constructive criticism
-
Responding to and handling anonymous submissions from the website while respecting individual’s privacy
-
Creating employee improvement plans for leadership, directors and any other IGG member that is not performing in their role to the need of the organization
-
Recognizing gaps within the organization and creating training sessions for the consistent improvement of the organization
-
Manage all IGG member data and organize in a database as well as keep track of the training completed by each IGG member
-
Work closely with the HR advisor and Director Team to assist in other projects as needed
